Description from Givaudan: "Odor: Floral tea-rose with a fruity balsamic character and a hint of honey sweetness. Use: Used at up to 3% in many applications from detergents to fine fragrances. Useful modifier of the more common rose alcohols and esters."

Calkin & Jellinek report that this material was used as part of the rose note in Opium, to which they say it makes an important contribution.
